What is a Hydrosol?

When plant material is steam distilled to extract its essential oil, valuable aromatic water is produced. This aqueous solution contains the water soluble plant compounds present in the essential oil and others that are not. What is unmistakably present is the ethereal aroma and therapeutic qualities of the plant. Because the essential oil component is less than .2mL per litre it is generally very safe for external use.

A few words about Jojoba and Fractionated Coconut oils:

• Both resist oxidation and therefore have a very long shelf life. Hence they need no added preservatives.
• Both are non-tacky and non-greasy and absorb easily into the skin.
• Jojoba is silky while Coconut is very light in texture.
• Each is an excellent moisturizer in its own right, therefore complementing the effects of the essential oils in each formula.
